president obama didn't reject the offer but he didn't accept it rooireither. he said, look, we need to do both at the same time. we need to reopen the government. and i am told that a number of establishment republicans agree with that thinking and that they have been increasingly voicing that opinion to house speaker john boehner. so it's back to the drawing board to some extent, but all sides describing that meeting as positive and constructive. so i do think that the tone has changed here a bit. there is more optimism that there might be a deal. but the question is what is it going to take? and you would think that there has to be something that the white house offers, despite the fact that they have said they're not going to negotiate. i think one thing to watch for is that medical device tax, the white house doesn't see that as being as bad as delaying the president's health care law, for example, and that's one of the things that republicans have been talking about as a potential concession. they want to repeal the medical device tax. the white house say

they're not beholden to the obama care rules. but you as an individual, as an american in this country, you're going to get fined, you're going to get fined if you don't sign up for this total failure. all we're asking is can we just have a break from that? is that too much to ask? i don't think so. >> congressman trey radle with the conservative opinion and you appreciate you coming on. thank you so much. >> thank you. >> edward snowden posing for pictures and getting an award overnight from a group of american whistleblowers. they praised him for leaking sensitive information about nsa surveillance program. he's been on the lam in russia for three months now and one former justice department worker said snowden is settling in well. >> he looks very healthy, well rested, centered and grounded. he was funny and engaging. he did not seem worried. he did not seem to have lost weight or appear pale or sick in any kind of way. he's been reading russian authors and studying russian history and trying to understand the politics. >> thi

no matter what we're going to repeal obama care. then it's moved to other things about a grand bargain and trying to get other mechanisms in to get something out of this. we have seen that over the past few days where some republican members of congress said we're going to get something for this. this isn't a game. it's one thing to have this negotiation leading up to the process but we're seven days into a government shutdown. how are we supposed to be the world leader if we can't get our own fiscal house in order? i talked to business owners back from abroad, they said we're being laughed at by folks overseas while we're trying to lead the way economically and foreign affairs and can't get our own house in order. kind of embarrassing. >> i want to go to the floor. speaker boehner is at the mike. >> i'm sorry. >> just getting word he just walked away. nothing monumental right there from boehner as of yet. how do you think this will all come to an end? we're barreling toward the debt ceiling issue and seem to be in this stalled mode

the president said he wouldn't negotiate over obama care. what was interesting this weekend is they are not talking about debts and deficit which the president said he would negotiate over. the president said he wouldn't negotiate over the debt ceiling. i think he could negotiate over the continuing resolution over opening the government. everybody has done it in the past. i think there is a needle you can thread here. right now there is no bid, no ask, nothing on the table. >> in an interview with the associated press, president obama was asked whether he set the precedent for freshman senators like marco rubio, rand paul and ted cruz to make a splash on the national stage in their first term. >> when i came to the senate, my attitude was i should just keep a low profile and do the work. >> the media didn't let you do that. >> the media may not have. but i didn't court the media. i certainly didn't go around trying to shut down the government. >> as for senator ted cruz, he weighed in on his role in the current dissent in the republican par
